Pigmentation problems can occur when the levels of Melanin in the skin increase. The melanin present in your skin determines your skin colour as well as your hair and eye colour. When too much melanin is present in the skin hyper pigmentation occurs and can effect people of all ages, races and skin colours. A condition that produces dark patches on the face and hands can be distressing and treating these areas under expert guidance has amazing effects.

Sun damage to the skin can cause hyper pigmentation in the form of age spots, liver spots, freckles and choasma and melasma. As always we recommend staying out of the sun when it is at its strongest and using a sun block on the face and neck. Pigmentation problems

The Nu-Derm® system works on skin cells by renewing skin at this deep level. The skin is stronger as a result, reflecting a vibrancy and vitality that can be seen in as little as 5 weeks. New, younger looking skin shows through as the Nu-Derm system removes the damaged skin layers that cause the pigmentation to form.

Nu-Derm® has three stages in the process of younger, fresher looking skin : Repair, Improvement and Final stage are moved through with miraculous results at each stage of the procedure.

The Repair Stage

This stage is associated with redness, dryness, and exfoliation, referred to as skin reactions. These reactions can be controlled or minimized to a suitable level to accommodate an individual’s lifestyle. Reactions in the repair stage are associated with the amount of cream that is used; the more cream used will result in more reaction. Likewise, the less cream used will result in less reaction

Improvement Stage – after 6 weeks of cream use

At this stage, if creams have been applied correctly, damaged layers of skin have been removed and replaced with new, healthy skin. Skin is strengthened and reaction is less. Obvious improvement in the skin can be seen at this stage.

Final Stage

At this stage, skin is renewed and medical objectives have been achieved. The time to achieve the best possible skin condition is variable and depends on the skin damage before starting the treatment. After the treatment is complete the doctor will usually recommend a maintenance program.

The Obagi Nu-Derm products are designed in a system with a specific dosage and frequency to maximise your results. Following are the components in the systems:

A. To prepare the skin:

Foaming Gel or Gentle Cleanser (No 1) depending on normal, dry or oily skin

Toner (No 2)

B. To improve the skin:

Clear (No 3)

Exfoderm® Forte or Exfoderm® (No 4) depending on the normal, dry or oily skin

C. To stimulate the formation of healthy skin: Clear, Blender and Tretinoin

D. To protect the skin: Healthy Skin Protection SPF35 (N0 6) and Sunfader® Physical UV Block (No6)

The Obagi Blue Peel is a high quality skin peel treatment for treating acne scars, wrinkles, sun damage and a wide range of pigmentation problems. At Finchley Cosmetic Clinic we have a specially trained Dr, experienced in applying the Blue Peel.

A low concentration of chemical trichlororoacetic acid (TCA) is mixed with a special blue base. This allows to regulate the depth of the peel and remove the surface layers of aged and damaged skin. These damaged cells are replaced by healthier ones, making the skin look healthier and younger. The FDA approved (Food and Drug Administration) Obagi Blue Skin Peel can be applied to the neck, chest, hands, back, arms, legs and other parts of the body.

The Blue Peel system is quick to apply and works wonders on the complexion. After half an hour the formula will be applied and after 48-72 hours the skin will begin to peel. The complete healing time is 7-10 days so allow some holiday if you do not want to venture too far during this time.
